Gru has a head start on this routine: his Minion partner is frozen in place. In Jasmin and James Dance's new Short, a toy freeze ray and glowing effects turn a dance into a miniature Despicable Me sketch.

The dancer behind Gru's mask starts moving while pieces of digital doubles split apart and float upward to the beat. Eventually, the Minion unfreezes and joins the synchronized choreography. The effects aren't just a backdrop here; they let one partner keep dancing while the other appears stuck.

The Short reached nearly 120,000 views in 19 hours, well ahead of the channel's usual opening for the format. Three other uploads from the same day also made unusually fast starts, though this costume routine had the most views among them.

An on-screen prompt asks viewers to identify the movie, and the replies mostly offer Despicable Me or Minions. The costumes make this a rather easier mystery than the floating body parts.

For the couple, the choreography is also a return to their roots. They say they were professional dancers before social media, and that dance is how they met and fell in love.
