Rolex's off-limits watches get the Half as Interesting treatment
Written by Amy Muller, the week's only upload passed 1.2 million views in six days.
Why this story? The channel's weekly summary: what went up this week, what is drawing views now, and where the channel stands among similar channels.
Why Rolex Won’t Sell You Their Most Expensive Watches
Among explainer and education channels, Half as Interesting sits third by subscribers, a whisker ahead of Economics Explained and behind Extra History and BradyYourTutor, both of which are running a little above their usual pace.
The channel, which calls itself a home for "education-y explainer videos that are almost good enough to watch," posted just one video, and it asks a good question: "Why Rolex Won’t Sell You Their Most Expensive Watches." Amy Muller wrote it, and it is past a million views in under a week. For a single upload, that is a comfortable showing, and it is doing nearly all of the channel's current lifting.
The back catalog is ticking along more gently. Ben Doyle's "Why Almost Every Airline Has Sued This One Website" has passed two million views after almost two months, and a 39-day-old video about why a made-up drug name like "Stroebenazoline" is illegal sits close behind it in daily pace. Both are a long way from the Rolex video's speed, which says more about a fresh upload than about any slowdown in the older ones.
That is the house style in miniature: a very specific "why" in the title, and a writer's name in the description.
