Angela Stephens returned from a doctor's appointment to find the lock on her closet broken and her safe gone. Inside it were her life savings.

In FOX 5 Atlanta's report, Tara Jabour explains that Stephens had lived at the southwest Atlanta senior facility for three years. A hallway surveillance camera that might have recorded the theft was not working at the time, leaving a gap where investigators could have looked for answers.

"I feel violated," Stephens says. She describes feeling uncomfortable both staying in the apartment alone and leaving it empty. The loss has changed how she feels inside her own home, not just what she has put away for the future.

The segment drew about 28,000 views in eight hours, already well beyond the channel's usual full-day audience for a regular video. Its comment section was also much busier than a typical first day.

Jabour reports that Stephens filed a police report and that Atlanta Police are investigating. At the time of the broadcast, the apartment management had not responded to the station's inquiries.
