Two men charged over RAF Fairford air base incident
Reports of suspicious vehicles near RAF Fairford led to arrests in September. Now, Euronews reports, two men have been charged under the UK's National Security Act, with one accused of assisting a foreign intelligence service that police believe to be Iran's.
The minute-long report distinguishes the two men charged from the larger group initially detained near the base. It does not present the foreign-intelligence accusation as a finding of guilt.
Fairford, in Gloucestershire, supports US heavy-bomber operations, giving the location significance beyond Britain. The National Security Act introduced measures aimed at threats including espionage, foreign interference and sabotage.
The Short drew roughly 28,000 views in less than half a day, an unusually strong start for Euronews' short-form reports. Its projected first-day audience is more than twenty times the channel's usual level for that format.
The report closes by revisiting Iran's July warning about bases used for operations against its territory, alongside its statement that it knew US bombers were using Fairford.
A Royal Air Force station in Gloucestershire and the US Air Force's only European airfield for heavy bombers. It regularly supports US bomber deployments.

The numbers
This report is drawing views much faster than a typical Euronews Short. The first-day projection remains an estimate, rather than a completed day's total.
