Peter Krause, once Truman's boss, in Esquire's 'That's show business for you'
The short tagged with The Truman Show had the slowest start of the magazine's Peter Krause run, then pulled far ahead of the rest.
Why this story? The video is running at 20,431 views a day, 19 times its usual pace (1,062).
That's show business for you. #PeterKrause #TheTrumanShow #LineOfFire
Before Six Feet Under and Parenthood, Peter Krause had a small part in The Truman Show, playing Truman's boss at the insurance office. That film is the one tagged on "That's show business for you," one of a run of Krause shorts Esquire posted on October 1 and 2.
Each short in the run carries the #LineOfFire tag and pulls a different thread from his career: the Aaron Sorkin dialogue of Sports Night, a nod to Felicity Huffman, Six Feet Under, Dirty Sexy Money, and a Seinfeld crush he apparently kept to himself. The Truman Show clip was not the fast starter of the group. It ended its first day at around 3,500 views. It kept climbing anyway, and three days in it has passed 24,000, well ahead of every other short in the set. It is doing that on a day when the magazine's channel as a whole is running quieter than usual.
The title keeps the moment itself under wraps, but the comments keep coming back to hair. One viewer is glad something inspired the change. Another recalls advice about doing something drastic with it, which comes down to brushing it back with a little gel. Others greet him simply as Nate, his Six Feet Under character. And one claims him proudly for a shared home state: Krause grew up in Minnesota.
