The song everyone knows from the first note

How little of a song does Elise Ecklund need to play before someone recognizes it? Her October uploads have whittled the challenge from a first word down to a single piano note.

The newer test, "The song everyone knows from the first note", was the most watched of her three uploads this week. Elise sits behind a keyboard, asks viewers to guess, then presses a high G. That is the entire musical clue. The Short passed a million views in its first day.

My Chemical Romance's "Welcome to the Black Parade" dominates the answers, but the comments make the guessing game more interesting than a unanimous chorus. Other viewers hear Minecraft music or L's theme from Death Note, while some question whether a lone note can identify anything at all. Elise's unwavering stare gets its own share of attention.

Meanwhile, "the song EVERYONE knows from the first word!" has reached more than 18 million views and continues to draw viewers. Among the new uploads, "Growing Up Ugly (part 2)" is the next busiest, followed by "This is so embarrassing 💀".

The channel's subscriber count was unchanged over seven days, and its current daily viewing pace is a little below usual. Nearby in size, BolingBros is seeing a substantial viewing lift, while fellow musical comedian Daniel Thrasher is having a slower spell. For Elise, the week's most active corner remains that keyboard: one key pressed, plenty of competing answers.
