A Diall plug recall, an ATEX socket and a 25kW home charger: eFIXX's eight uploads

Episode 218 of Electrical News Weekly opened on a government alert about 16A plugs and connectors, then moved on to cable clips and twin-and-earth used as an extension lead.

Why this story? The channel's weekly summary: what went up this week, what is drawing views now, and where the channel stands among similar channels.

What else did eFIXX post while a Weidmüller junction box was getting all the attention? Quite a lot. Eight uploads went up, and the channel's daily views ran at more than double their usual level, about 4.5 million across the week.

The longest of them was Electrical News Weekly, now at episode 218. It opens with a recall of Diall 16A plugs and connectors, and the description lists the affected batch numbers for anyone who wants to check their van. It then moves through BEAMA's fire-safety guidance on cable supports, an HSE case about a builder who used twin-and-earth as an extension lead, and Schneider Electric's proposed takeover of Shelly.

The shorts covered a lot of ground. One installs a Scame OPTIMA plug built for potentially explosive sites, where its mechanical design is meant to stop wrong connections. Another pulls a draw wire through conduit with a vacuum cleaner, and a third rescues a friction-burnt cable with a Quickwire splitter instead of replacing it. A batten lamp holder, wired the classic three-plate way, kept things old-school.

The junction box still carries the week. Its comments have become a running argument about whether insulation-piercing contacts can be trusted, with a few vampire jokes along the way. Beside it, a nine-day-old look at Sigenergy's module for up to 25kW of DC charging at home is still pulling viewers.

Among DIY and home channels of similar size, only Quickdvice added more views. Homeworthy came in close behind.
