A Ritchie Bros bidding spree nears a million for Diesel Creek

The two-week-old auction video, scored with custom music by Vinnie Longhi of the Semi-Supervillains, carried a channel that posted nothing new.

Why this story? The channel's weekly summary: what went up this week, what is drawing views now, and where the channel stands among similar channels.

No new uploads, one big auction. Matt, the Pennsylvania mechanic behind Diesel Creek, spent the week away from the camera, and the video keeping his channel busy is a confession of sorts: "I Couldn't Stop Bidding! The Ritchie Bros Auction Got EXPENSIVE! (But Was it Worth it??)". Ritchie Bros is one of the best-known names in heavy equipment auctions, the kind of sale where a bidding paddle can get away from you, and the title asks whether it did.

At fourteen days old it is close to a million views and still drawing far more each day than anything else on the channel. Behind it sit two more machines bought on hope. The Caterpillar 245 shovel, dragged out of a boneyard and billed in its title as a monster, has passed 1.1 million views at fifty days. A three-week-old gamble on two auction air compressors sold as inoperable, with Ingersoll and Sullair among the tags, is near a million too. Auctions, it seems, are what this audience comes back for.

Without anything new to watch, the channel ran somewhat below its usual daily pace, and its subscriber count held at about 1.06 million. Among the aviation and machine channels nearest its size, Pilot Debrief and Dorothy Lech had by far the busiest weeks, while Diesel Creek sat near the quieter end alongside Alex the Trucking Guy.
