Lookalikes win again. Colby Fulton's channel, built on short drumming clips, posted nine of them this week, and the one carrying it is a revisit of a famous piece of television: Chad Smith of the Red Hot Chili Peppers squaring off against Will Ferrell in a drum-off.
The clip had a solid first day, then kept accelerating, and four days in it has passed 1.3 million views. Across the whole channel, daily views are running at well over twice the usual pace. The comment section has settled on one subject: the resemblance. Viewers call them brothers a few years apart or separated at birth, someone asks for more cowbell, someone pitches a Step Brothers sequel with Chad, and a few insist the show's drummer was doing the real playing while Ferrell mimed. One viewer recalls spotting the likeness with a coworker some twenty-five years ago.
The rest of the week leaned on drum showdowns too. A Godsmack drum battle from the weekend before is still the channel's second busiest clip, and Drumeo's Jess Bowen playing Rage Against the Machine for the first time also found a crowd. Two shorts of a five-year-old drummer went up as well, the newer one off to a quicker start than the first.
Among the music lesson and instrument channels of similar size, this was one of the livelier weeks, alongside Emil Vergo, who is also running well above his usual pace.
