Retro consoles earn a place in Byte Review's everyday bag

The 2026 carry update includes cameras, filming accessories and a three-years-later look at the Gomatic Luma bag.

Why this story? The channel's weekly summary: what went up this week, what is drawing views now, and where the channel stands among similar channels.

Byte Review packed plenty into its only new upload: computers, cameras, cables and room for gaming away from the desk. “My Everyday Carry Tech Bag 2026!” has reached roughly 177,000 views, with chapters devoted to the AYN Thor, Switch 2, headphone choices and the decision to move away from wireless charging.

The comments make this more than a packing list. One viewer is weighing a laptop upgrade against how well an older machine handles work; another wants higher-refresh-rate screens before choosing an Air. Bag recommendations are arriving too, while a first-time Breath of the Wild player supplies a small gaming detour.

The folding phone remains the bigger draw across the catalog. “I tried the iPhone Duo. I get it now” is bringing in the most daily views, with its screen, crease and software impressions, followed by the new bag video and the earlier Duo hands-on.

Subscribers grew modestly over the week. Current daily viewing is about half the usual pace, although Byte Review's weekly views gain sits behind only Monitors Unboxed and Olight World among its nearby technology peers. The practical carry update gives that phone-heavy shelf a different kind of browsing.

What viewers say

  • 0:48 if Apple ever comes around to the fact that 120hz isn’t a “pro” feature anymore I’ll do an Air upgrade. Until then I’m right there with you.
  • I've been on the fence about upgrading from a "Gamer" laptop to the M5 Air, but hearing you say the M3 is still powering your workload made me make up my mind.
  • Started playing Breath of the Wild for the first time last week and I am HOOKED!
