Two takes on the iPhone Duo: Brian Tong is charmed, then worried
A hinge, a barely visible crease and an app called Duoman won him over in part one, while weight, price and two different displays fill the second.
Why this story? The channel's weekly summary: what went up this week, what is drawing views now, and where the channel stands among similar channels.
iPhone Duo...You Had Me At Hello
Brian Tong split his verdict on Apple's folding phone into a two-part series, and posted both halves on the same day. "iPhone Duo...You Had Me At Hello" is the warm one: its chapters run through the hinge, the transition from closed to open, a crease he calls barely visible, the speakers, IP68 water resistance and a playful app called Duoman. "iPhone Duo...I Have Concerns" is the cooler sequel, walking through two different displays, Touch ID against Face ID, the camera system, weight and thickness, multitasking in iOS 27 and, near the end, the price.
The love letter got there first, with roughly 340,000 views by week's end. The concerns video, though, is now the one gathering views a little faster day to day. Perhaps viewers who have already decided to buy want to know what they are signing up for?
The comments under the first part read like a waiting room. Several people mention the October 23 date, one is stuck choosing between white and midnight, and a few say the Duoman app reminds them of iBeer and the other novelty apps from the iPhone's early years. Another viewer brings up the old slide to unlock.
The same day also brought an M5 Ultra Mac Studio review, billed as the most powerful Mac ever made, and a Roborock robot vacuum followed late in the week. The channel's overall pace ran below its usual this week, and about a thousand new subscribers came along. Among the tech review channels nearest it in size, İncelemedeyim, BRO COOLING and JJ Shankles had the bigger weeks.
