Eight singers on one cover, and BandLab's channel passes a billion views

The music app's six new Shorts ran from a home-made choir to two $500 prizes at an Orlando showcase called Pass the Aux.

Why this story? The channel's weekly summary: what went up this week, what is drawing views now, and where the channel stands among similar channels.

Eight people on a cover? 🤯Eight people on a cover? 🤯

BandLab's channel has crossed a billion views in total, a round number that arrived without fanfare. It belongs to an official account, the house channel of a music-making app that says it has more than 100 million users, and it spent the days doing what it always does: showing people singing into their phones and stitching the results together.

The busiest of the six new Shorts is "Eight people on a cover? 🤯", which went up on Tuesday and had passed 13,000 views by the end of the week, several times more than anything else posted beside it. The description pitches it as a group project, adding that a single cover can hold up to 50 collaborators. The comments read like a group chat: viewers shout out singers by first name, one is singled out for a big note, several want to try the same thing with their own friends, and a few ask where to find the song.

The other uploads stay close to the voice. "Her little harmonies at 0:11 🥺" points straight at its own best moment, "How to turn one voice into a choir 👀" stacks a single singer into layers, and "Performances so good they bagged $500 each 👀" visits Pass the Aux, a free community night in Orlando where two creators took home cash for their original tracks.

The wider channel ran well above its usual pace, with about 1.5 million views over the week, the most among the music labels and platforms nearest it in size. TOPSIFY also had a lively stretch, while VERZUZ and Warner Music Group moved at their usual quiet speed. About a thousand new subscribers came along.
