What does Peter Obi want voters to judge first: the president's policies or his presence? In a campaign speech featured on Arise News, the NDC presidential candidate makes availability part of his argument for replacing Bola Tinubu.
"Nigeria needs a president that will be available, that will be there," Obi tells supporters at the inauguration of his party's National Campaign Council in Abuja. He criticizes Tinubu's travels abroad and argues that governing means solving problems rather than assigning blame.
The speech anchors a fast-starting edition of What's Trending with Ojy Okpe, which reached roughly 123,000 views in its first half-day, far beyond the channel's usual start for a regular video.
Vice President Kashim Shettima supplies the administration's response in a separate speech at the Nigerian Economic Summit. Defending the removal of the petrol subsidy, he dismisses Obi's reliance on statistics and argues that the opposition candidate offers no real solutions. Back in the studio, Reuben Abati presses the distinction between forceful campaign criticism and a concrete governing program.
The broadcast also moves from campaign arguments to the machinery of voting. Okpe reports complaints about the preliminary online voter register, including missing names, deceased people allegedly still listed and photographs suspected of being AI-generated. Those are reported concerns, not established findings that the register has been compromised. INEC says claims and objections will still be processed before the final register is published.
Arise News's other fast-starting uploads include APC spokesperson Felix Morka's defense of Tinubu's poverty record, giving viewers a separate, extended account of the governing party's case.
