Administrative Results explores the HCAR's BAR ancestry
Bob Landies gets the credit in a fast-moving history Short, while viewers keep returning to the cost of owning one.
Why this story? The video opened at a pace of 152,736 views a day, 8.6 times a normal first day on this channel (17,766).
Who Do we Have to Thank for HCAR?
The price keeps coming up. Administrative Results has posted a short history of the HCAR, and viewers are discussing an awkward contrast: a rifle whose origins involved making the BAR more accessible remains a wish-list purchase for many commenters.
"Who Do we Have to Thank for HCAR?" credits Bob Landies, founder of Ohio Ordnance Works. Over archival photographs, workshop clips and shooting footage, the narrator follows the HCAR's ancestry through Landies' earlier self-loading versions of the Browning Automatic Rifle, better known as the BAR.
The story is less about firing the rifle than getting it made. The narrator explains how restrictions on original automatic BARs created demand for civilian-legal alternatives, then describes rejected designs and receiver-supply problems along the way. There is a terminology detail, too: Landies preferred "self-loading rifle" to "semi-automatic," according to the narration.
The Short drew an estimated 153,000 views in its first day, more than eight times the channel's usual Shorts start. Comments arrived more than four times as fast as usual, with price-tag jokes, wish-list admissions and requests for a Colt Monitor-style version.
The HCAR also connects to the channel's recent sci-fi shooting competition outing. In the description of "Grown man Larps as Space Marine," Administrative Results says it was the intended Space Marine rifle, but an HK G27k had to take its place.

@Reeper6469See it on YouTubeIt would be cool if they did a Colt Monitor version since the real thing is virtually unobtanium.
