ABC News' Wednesday live broadcast had drawn roughly 72,000 views within its first hour online, making it the most watched of the week's new uploads. The continuous-news format found a larger audience than any of the individual reports, across a week with 15 additions.
Those reports ranged from household pressures to a very public autumn spectacle. "Final inflation report before midterms show prices for Americans are on the rise" focused on gas and diesel costs pushing inflation higher. In Minnesota, the subject was rather less abstract: a crowd gathered for giant-pumpkin smashing at Stillwater Harvest Fest, with attendees running to collect pieces of gourd afterward.
The network also covered Pope Leo's recovery following surgery after a lung cancer diagnosis. Its report relayed the Vatican's statement that he was in good spirits and expected to remain hospitalized until the following Tuesday.
Across the channel, daily viewing is running at nearly twice its usual level, while the subscriber count was unchanged over seven days. Fellow broadcasters BBC News and Sky News are also seeing above-usual daily viewing; CNN's weekly view total was substantial despite a slower current daily pace. For ABC, the live broadcast was the clearest new-upload draw.
