Australian Institute of Pharmacognosy
Topics: Alternative Health · Natural Sciences
The Herbarium Hour is a weekly podcast on medicinal plants from the Australian Institute of Pharmacognosy in Cardwell, far north Queensland. Each episode takes one plant or one question and follows it through its history, its chemistry and what the research shows it can do. The series covers herbal medicines used in Australia and around the world: echinacea, kava, pelargonium, turmeric, St John's wort, black cohosh and plenty more. We look at how they work in the body, how their quality is tested, what the TGA has decided about them and where the evidence stands. Ethnobotany and old herbals such as the Picatrix come into it too. We're for herbal medicine, for education and for good science,...
