Seventy-year-old teak, sanded bare: The Pethericks' 1956 yacht shows her decks
Six uploads in seven days took Billy from buying the boat to firing her engines, with his dad asking to do the honors.
Why this story? The channel's weekly summary: what went up this week, what is drawing views now, and where the channel stands among similar channels.
Bringing 70-Year-Old Teak Back to Life
Eleven hours after it went up, "Bringing 70-Year-Old Teak Back to Life" was already past 70,000 views, and it was moving faster than anything else The Pethericks had posted all week. That says something, because the week was full.
Six videos went up, one nearly every day, and together they read like a short season of the channel's one big story: a classic yacht from 1956 that Billy bought and now has to save. It opens with the purchase and moves on to stripping back the grime in "Uncovering the Beauty of a 70-Year-Old Yacht." Then the decks. "The Teak Decks Were Covered for a Reason…" became the week's most watched upload. Between those came the mechanical chapters: a gearbox fix on what the title calls his £50K yacht, and a family moment in "My Dad Asked to Start the Engines." The gearbox video carries a Mat Armstrong tag, a nod to the car rebuilder whose restoration world sits right next door to this one.
Under the teak video, the comments read like a boatyard workshop. Viewers recommend oxalic acid for the dark water stains, finer sandpaper for a silkier finish and a heat gun to lift old varnish. One suggests keeping a jar of teak dust to mix into filler. Several point out the forgotten boats around the big one, with a single man working away on her. Another asks who made the soundtrack.
The channel as a whole drew well above its usual daily views, even as the subscriber count slipped by about a thousand over the week. Among similar DIY and building channels, Tia Weston had the standout week, while Woodworking Projects and Shirahaha ran quieter than normal. For the Pethericks, the busiest thing on the channel is the newest: the teak, finally showing its color again.

Notice all the other forgotten boats surrounding the big yacht with one determined man toiling away on the big one. Incredible effort. I love the progress reports.
