David Pakman examines reports of maneuvering for Susie Wiles' job
His White House commentary follows reported succession ambitions, poster-board pitches and a hiring decision he interprets as undermining the chief of staff.
Why this story? The video opened at a pace of 248,858 views a day, 6.8 times a normal first day on this channel (36,685).
Trump's White House is imploding before the midterms #shorts
Large posters of Donald Trump make an unexpected appearance in David Pakman's account of White House office politics. Citing Washington Post reporting, he describes Bill Pulte bringing them onto Air Force One and golf courses to pitch ideas to the president.
That detail sits inside a more consequential question: who is positioning themselves to replace White House Chief of Staff Susie Wiles before the midterm elections?
Pakman's Short examines an October Washington Post article about internal power struggles, citing its interviews with staffers and allies. He names Stephen Miller, Lee Zeldin and Pulte as reported contenders maneuvering for the role. These are accounts of positioning, not an announced succession.
"Remember, this was supposed to be Trump 2.0," Pakman says, contrasting expectations of an organized administration with the turmoil he describes. He points to Katie Zacharia's dismissal after a brief stint as press secretary and says Trump hired her without consulting Wiles. Pakman interprets that decision as an intentional effort to weaken Wiles' authority.
The upload drew about 181,000 views in a little more than half a day, already well beyond the channel's usual full-day Shorts audience.
Midterm uncertainty is also connecting several of Pakman's longer uploads. His Mike Johnson commentary, which questions the speaker's explanation for weak Republican polling, has passed a million views, as we reported here. The new Short shifts attention from Republican messaging to the reported maneuvering inside the White House itself.
