On a typical day, Cody'sLab draws a little over fifty thousand views across its whole catalog. This stretch ran noticeably softer than that, and with no new uploads in the week, the channel leaned on what was already there.

Most of that weight falls on "Niter Ice." Eighteen days after it went up, it is still bringing in far more each day than anything else on the channel. Niter is the old name for potassium nitrate, and that same compound ties it to the video behind it, "Potassium Nitrate From My Own Pee." That title does exactly what it says, in the unflinching homestead-chemistry style Cody Reeder has long been known for. Posted nearly six weeks ago, it keeps a gentle, steady trickle going. Further back, "Continuous Feed Jar For Infinite Pickles," from spring, is edging toward a million views.

The slowdown was not his alone. Across the science and experiment channels, nearly everyone ran below their usual pace, from Dr Ben Miles and Reed Timmer to NightHawkInLight and Deep Look. Scott Manley was the one channel in the group running a touch ahead of his norm.
