Simone Biles and an NFL mix-up lead Best Gymnastics' three compilations

The gymnastics clips channel posted three short edits, and its newest, built on a mistaken guess about Biles' husband, picked up speed after its first day.

Why this story? The channel's weekly summary: what went up this week, what is drawing views now, and where the channel stands among similar channels.

Three days old and already the quickest mover on the shelf, "I thought Simone was with the NFL player😲" plays on a mix-up the title owns up to. Simone Biles is in fact married to an NFL player, the safety Jonathan Owens, so the joke lands either way. The clip opened modestly and has been gathering pace since, now running well ahead of anything else the channel has up.

Best Gymnastics is a clips channel: it strings together other people's gymnastics moments, from Biles to Whitney Bjerken, the young gymnast whose name sits in almost every tag. Its other two uploads this week follow its favorite formula, a run of routines with the payoff saved for the end. "The LAST one was CRAZY wow" was the busiest of the three, passing 80,000 views, and the most liked comment under it comes from a viewer who says, as a gymnast, that the skills shown are far beyond the beginner levels the clip seems to suggest.

The channel had a much calmer stretch than it usually does, and the subscriber count stood still. Among the sports channels nearest its size, NRL on Nine and RugbyPass had the big weeks, while Best Gymnastics sat in the middle of the group, a little ahead of US GOLF TV for views gained.
