A runaway Cybercab misses its stop in The Daily Downshift's fiction
The animated passenger tries broken emergency buttons and a phone call, while viewers spot a screen that won't stay gone.
Why this story? The video opened at a pace of 690,555 views a day, 9.7 times a normal first day on this channel (71,520).
Cybercab Went Crazy 🚨Fiction
Smashing the screen does not stop the car. Throwing it out does not help either. That is the opening predicament in The Daily Downshift's animated Cybercab sketch, explicitly labeled fiction, not footage of a real autonomous-car incident.
The passenger's destination passes by, the overhead emergency buttons break off, and the SOS system fails. With no steering wheel or brake pedal to reach for, the character calls 911 and asks for a police escort. Soon, cruisers surround the car as it keeps traveling down the freeway.
The Short has drawn roughly 450,000 views in its first 11 hours, already several times the channel's usual full-day audience for this format. A separate fictional sketch about being stuck between tornadoes has also made an unusually fast start.
But the Cybercab's missing controls are not the only details catching viewers' attention. Several comments point out that the screen appears inside the car again after being thrown away. Others turn the narrator's pronunciation of Cybercab into an assortment of playful spellings. For a story about a vehicle that refuses to stop, the returning screen supplies an unintended continuity joke.
