Joe Marler, Sonny Bill Williams and a Bledisloe date a year out on RugbyPass

Nine uploads went up, and the Australia-New Zealand tries reel points to October 9, 2027, when the two meet in Pool A.

Why this story? The channel's weekly summary: what went up this week, what is drawing views now, and where the channel stands among similar channels.

Among the sports channels nearest its size, RugbyPass had the second-biggest week for views, a little over 2.7 million, behind only NRL on Nine, which is running well below its own usual pace even so. RugbyPass went the other way, a touch above its normal rhythm.

Nine uploads went up, and they read like a rugby scrapbook. Sonny Bill Williams got a short tribute as "The Offload King," the nickname earned by the two-time World Cup winner's habit of passing out of tackles. Joe Marler, the England prop as famous for his interviews as his scrummaging, turned up in a 2023 World Cup clip billed as an all-time classic. And a reel of the best Australia-New Zealand tries at World Cups carries a date in its description: the two sides meet again in Pool A on October 9, 2027, a year to the day from now.

The Duane Vermeulen Short, as we reported here, is still the one doing the work. Five days old, it is close to 380,000 views and gathering more each day than anything else on the shelf. Its comment section has settled on a nickname, Thor, and a running joke about what the big Springbok No. 8 was thinking about in that close-up (dinner, according to the most liked guess). Ulster supporters are still pleased they had him for two seasons.

Behind it, an older "Rugby Respect Moment…" has passed 700,000, and a new clip of a player trying to win a penalty, with the expected result, had a lively first day. Around 1,000 new subscribers came along.
