"I got a real strong sense that Patrick Stewart has not seen Reno 911," Thomas Lennon tells Rich Eisen. His evidence: Stewart seemed to take the short shorts and go-go boots at face value.

Lennon was wearing his comedy character's uniform for a Paramount+ commercial shoot when Stewart asked whether the scratches on his legs were makeup. Lennon explained that stunt falls and mosquito bites had left their marks. The mosquito part caught Stewart's attention: he had problems with them, too.

Comparing notes, Lennon says, they discovered they lived a block apart. "That's how you found out that you're neighbors with Sir Patrick Stewart?!" Eisen asks.

The interview Short, interwoven with excerpts from the commercial, has drawn more than half a million views in twelve hours, far beyond The Rich Eisen Show's usual first-day audience for Shorts. The comment section is unusually busy, too, with viewers recalling Stewart's deadpan lines and the commercial's unlikely gathering of characters.

This is a behind-the-scenes interview, not the commercial itself. The excerpts show Stewart changing into old-fashioned football gear, with Creed providing a musical accompaniment. Lennon explains that the band filmed separately, although he became friendly with singer Scott Stapp as a result.

One question from the shoot never quite went away. "At the end of the entire day, I still don't know if he knew that I was like a guy from a show," Lennon says.
