A Russian Geran-4 drone, taken apart, passes five million views

Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty's teardown traces the jet drone's turbojet engine, camera and foreign-made navigation parts, while armed Chinese robot dogs in Serbia joined the week's new reports.

Why this story? The channel's weekly summary: what went up this week, what is drawing views now, and where the channel stands among similar channels.

Ten days after it went up, Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty's look inside Russia's Geran-4 drone has passed five and a half million views, and it is still drawing a crowd. The video is a teardown: reporters open up the jet-powered drone to show what makes it faster and harder for Ukrainian air defenses to stop, from its turbojet engine and camera to communications and navigation parts made outside Russia.

It sits beside the road to Druzhkivka, the frontline report with Ukraine's 24th Brigade that, as we reported here, traveled far beyond the channel's usual reach. Three days on, Andriy Kuzakov's journey from Current Time is the newest video moving fastest, and between them the two drone stories carry most of the channel's attention.

The other new uploads, eight in all, went wider and quieter. One follows armed Chinese robot dogs, fitted with rockets, in Serbian military drills, described as their European debut. Others cover food delivered by heavy-lift drones to occupied Oleshky in the Kherson region, student protests at a Tehran university, and a dentist who helped treat the stabbed captain of a Flydubai flight.

The channel's daily pace has cooled from its usual level, and about 3,000 new subscribers arrived over the week. Among news networks of a similar size, it still added the third most views, with Fox News Clips and DRM News having the bigger weeks.
