A flytrap's missed meal joins Rank Dawg's plant countdown
The clips channel's fast-starting Short turns snapping traps and sticky leaves into a nature-meme ranking.
Why this story? The video opened at a pace of 2,394,595 views a day, 64 times a normal first day on this channel (37,646).
Ranking Best Carnivore Plant Core 🌱
A bug crawls into a Venus flytrap, then back out again. Rank Dawg gives the plant a blunt assessment: "Useless." Elsewhere in the countdown, another trap closes on several flies, complete with a game-announcer sound effect.
That mix of natural spectacle and comic timing has brought "Ranking Best Carnivore Plant Core 🌱" about 1.5 million views in ten hours, far beyond the channel's usual opening for a Short.
This is a compilation of other people's plant footage, edited into a ranking, rather than a gardening demonstration. A sundew slowly rolls a leaf around a trapped insect while an audio clip declares friendship. The joke comes from pairing the plant's patient movement with a very human welcome.
The opening clip, showing a touch-responsive plant folding around a hand, has also prompted a small botanical discussion. Viewers ask what it is, recognize similar plants from home and point out that responding to touch does not necessarily make a plant carnivorous.
Plants aren't the channel's only nature subject drawing attention. "Ranking Best Sea Creatures Glow Ups 🤩," posted earlier in the week, is also gaining views much faster than its usual pace. Between those uploads sit the chickens, squirrels and dogs that fill out Rank Dawg's animal-ranking repertoire.
