Fine print, twice: Nathan Doan's horror film and a Short that plays like one

A day after a horror short film on the same theme, his new skit about reading too late drew comments three times faster than usual, many about pickles and a clause printed in white.

Why this story? The video opened at a pace of 1,505,351 views a day, 10 times a normal first day on this channel (145,092).

Nobody reads the fine print until it’s too late...Nobody reads the fine print until it’s too late...

A skit about one make-or-break exam passed a million views on Nathan Doan's channel, and it still was not his busiest Short of the day. That was "Nobody reads the fine print until it's too late...", which reached close to 700,000 views in its first seven hours. That is a start roughly ten times what his Shorts usually manage in a full day.

The theme is clearly on his mind. A day earlier he posted "Fine Print should be illegal | Horror Short Film", a longer take labeled as horror. The new skit is billed as comedy, but the most liked comment asks why it feels like a horror movie anyway.

The comment section also outran the views. Within seven hours it had about three times as many comments as a usual Doan Short collects on its first day. Much of the talk circles a few details. Some viewers admit they expected the pickles to be the whole problem. Others point out that the fine print was printed in white, and several quote a line about wanting a refund. A few take the joke seriously and explain when a court can throw out a contract. One pitches it as the opening scene of a film about a man who can quietly rewrite documents.

It went up alongside two more skits the same day, one about a useless skill finally paying off and one about ordering "a little more but not an extra amount." The fine print is the one doing the work.
