Video taking off 12x its usual first day

Nathan Doan's GTA download comes with a judgmental PC

His "McDonald's WiFi" sketch turns a slow installation into an argument with a computer that has increasingly questionable solutions.

Why this story? The video opened at a pace of 1,402,873 views a day, 12 times a normal first day on this channel (120,762).

Charles just wants to play GTA. Nathan Doan's computer, however, estimates that getting the game installed could take years, and then starts offering commentary nobody asked for.

The comedy sketch has drawn about 851,000 views in ten hours, already well beyond the channel's usual full-day audience for a Short. Its familiar irritation is a download estimate that keeps climbing. Doan watches minutes become years and asks, "Will they still be on?"

But the slow connection is only the setup. The PC becomes a character through dialog boxes, mocking his internet speed before searching nearby routers for something better. It finds a neighbor with Google Fiber and proposes stealing her Wi-Fi access. This is a staged sketch, with the supposed technical assistant steadily becoming the source of the trouble.

Viewers are picking up on that role reversal: several discuss the self-aware computer, while others extend the joke about whether everyone will still be playing GTA by the time the download finishes.

The upload also sits alongside Doan's recent antivirus sketch, which has passed a million views. Here, even getting a faster connection cannot settle matters. Steam raises a new objection, insufficient disk space, and the PC turns its attention to a suspiciously large folder labeled "School Projects."
