The Blood of Dawnwalker, a vampire RPG, gets its sequel nod on Luke Stephens

His short on Rebel Wolves' debut passed nearly 400,000 views in four days, between a Gears of War: E-Day review and a run of Rockstar nostalgia.

Why this story? The channel's weekly summary: what went up this week, what is drawing views now, and where the channel stands among similar channels.

"They did it…" is a short about The Blood of Dawnwalker, the vampire RPG from Rebel Wolves, and on Luke Stephens' channel it became the busiest new upload of the week, close to 400,000 views in four days. Rebel Wolves was founded by veterans of CD Projekt Red's The Witcher 3, and that lineage runs all through the comments. Viewers compare the game to The Witcher and to Kingdom Come: Deliverance, studios whose first outings were proofs of concept before a bigger second swing. Several say they will buy a sequel. The most liked comment heads somewhere else entirely, asking why Insomniac's games cost so much. Another notes, with a grin, that a budget of 40 million now counts as small.

The longer video of the week was "I played 'Gears of War: E-Day'...", made with a review code from Xbox. The game is the origin story set fourteen years before the first Gears, with Marcus Fenix and Dominic Santiago on the day the Locust come up from underground. A short billed as calling it "immaculate" followed.

Rockstar fills the rest. A week-old short asking what the studio is working on next sits at more than half a million views, and two new pieces of early-2000s nostalgia, one on San Andreas, are off to quick starts.

Daily views ran below their usual level, with about 2,000 new subscribers over the week. Even so, no channel in his gaming news group added more views over those seven days. Spawn Wave and Infinite Bits came next, and LegacyKillaHD is running well above its usual pace.

What viewers say

  • Im on board for a sequel. Its a great jumping off point.
  • Genuinely spot on. I think this was Rebel Wolves’ KCD1. Prove the concept has a market and then absolutely swing for the fences in part 2.
  • Best Vampire game I’ve played.
