It is a tribute of sorts to Mr. David McGraw, the founder the description credits with building both the farm and the business of shipping live crawfish overnight across the country.

"building a duck hole" follows a small project on land Mr. David bought as flattened farmland and has slowly turned back into ponds, swamp and canals, now home to deer, alligators, frogs and birds. This time the job is modest: clear a patch, put water on it, and give passing ducks somewhere to land. It opened strongly and has settled into a steadier pace since.
