"Take out San Diego": CBS 8 asks the city, and Lamont Tyson's Short carries the answers
The street interviews about the president's Iran remark led a day of fast Shorts, one of them from another corner of San Diego.
Why this story? The video opened at a pace of 148,701 views a day, 8 times a normal first day on this channel (18,523).

"San Diego Residents React to Trump's "Take Out" Remark" is a short piece of street reporting from CBS 8, San Diego's CBS station, reposted with credit on Lamont Tyson's political commentary channel. The station took one question to people in the city: what did they make of the president saying Iran could "take out Los Angeles" and "take out San Diego"? According to the description, some residents are taking it very personally.
The description sets out both sides. The White House says the president was making a hypothetical argument about what could happen if Iran gained the ability to threaten American cities. San Diego political leaders from both parties criticized the remarks and said no American city should be treated as expendable. A longer upload from Tyson gives the setting: a rally in Nebraska on October 5, where, the description says, the line came moments after Trump called the war's effect on gas prices a "small price to pay."
The Short reached about 60,000 views in its first seven hours. Most of the channel's Shorts finish their whole first day under 20,000. Underneath it, the most common thread is the 25th Amendment, with viewer after viewer asking why nobody has reached for it.
It was not the only fast clip. A second San Diego Short, about apparent federal agents filmed near Wilson Middle School and Central Elementary in City Heights, ran well ahead of usual too. So did a Taco Bell clip about political irony, posted earlier and further along in views, a Raleigh City Council vote on a six-month data center pause that residents wanted to last 32 months, and a Michigan focus group in which former Trump voters picked Abdul El-Sayed over Mike Rogers. The channel as a whole still ran below its usual daily pace.
Tyson did not leave the remark at a Short. The next day he gave it a full panel with Mel and Brooklyn Wilde, playing the clip and weighing it against the White House's explanation.
