Thirty-one questions for a retired Atlanta homicide detective on Honesty Box

A two-year documentary following Nemo the Mormon from LDS commentator to excommunication arrived at the end of the week.

Why this story? The channel's weekly summary: what went up this week, what is drawing views now, and where the channel stands among similar channels.

Vince Velazquez spent his career investigating murders in Atlanta, and in the newest Honesty Box he takes the internet's questions about it. The chapters run from his first homicide case and how detectives get suspects to confess to whether killers really return to the scene, why detectives wear suits, and the one interview he says left him fearing for his life. In four days it has drawn close to 670,000 views, far more than anything else the channel posted. Three short cuts from the same sit-down followed on the next days, one on confessions and one on serial killers, and they found smaller crowds of their own.

The last upload of the week is a different kind of film. "Nemo vs the Mormon Church: The Cost of Speaking Out" was filmed over two years and follows Douglas Stilgoe, known online as Nemo the Mormon, from lifelong member and LDS commentator to excommunication. It grew out of his own Honesty Box episode from 2023, and in its first half day it was already the channel's second-busiest video.

An older Minutes With episode is still finding viewers: Tiana Broadnax telling how a university research project led her to the man on Texas death row she married, and later saw executed.

Among the documentary channels around it, Real Stories, FRONTLINE and Nat Geo Animals are all running above their usual pace, while Absolute History is quieter than normal. LADbible Stories, fourth of nine by subscribers, spent its week on two very different kinds of reckoning: one in the interview chair, one in front of a church.
