just some middle school antics

The writing assignment will have to wait: Roselie Arritola's student has rearranged the keyboard and no longer knows what she's typing. It's an excuse entirely of her character's own making.

In "just some middle school antics," Arritola, also known as Jenny Popach, plays students whose school laptops are getting everything except schoolwork done. The staged comedy Short reached roughly 49,000 views in nine hours, already well beyond the channel's usual full-day Shorts audience.

Under the on-screen heading "Middle Schoolers:", she moves through a series of increasingly questionable decisions. The keyboard confession comes with an apologetic delivery: "Yeah, sorry, I'm not going to be able to work on this writing assignment."

Then a classmate leaves for the bathroom. Her character briefly considers closing their laptop to protect it, before entertaining the exact sort of interference that makes closing it necessary.

The comments bring their own computer-room memories. Several viewers recognize the behavior from school; one recalls working with a keyboard that had no letters on its keys, leaving coworkers struggling whenever they needed to use it. Arritola's deliberately scrambled version turns that typing problem into a very convenient homework problem.

I never truly learned to type, but my computer lab (500+ users) keyboard had no letters on the keys. It would drive my co-workers nuts when they tried to log on or use my computers.
