James Rolfe gets more than a low-budget monster movie out of Jack-O. The finale of Monster Madness XX turns its attention to the DVD commentary, where director Steve Latshaw and executive producer Fred Olen Ray's increasingly barbed exchanges threaten to take over the review.
Before that, there's a pumpkin-headed demon, a family curse and the unmistakable atmosphere of a 1990s direct-to-video Halloween movie. Rolfe picks through the effects and improbable deaths, then explains how older John Carradine footage found its way into the film. The episode includes a sponsored comedy segment before the review resumes.
But the commentary is the real detour. Latshaw walks out of the recording before returning, and Rolfe wonders whether the hostility is a gag. Viewers are discussing the strange freedom of the DVD-commentary era and expressing disbelief that this particular session made it onto a release. Others mark Monster Madness itself as a longstanding October tradition.
Cinemassacre's only new upload of the week has reached about 123,000 views. Meanwhile, "Maniac Mansion (NES) - Angry Video Game Nerd (AVGN)", posted just before the week began, has reached 1.7 million and carries the channel's strongest daily momentum. Its haunted-house adventure supplies a different kind of horror: steering a cursor with a D-pad and trying to decipher what the game wants.
Across the channel, daily viewing is a little above its usual level, while subscribers were unchanged over the week. Cinemassacre collected the largest weekly view gain among its nearby gaming peers, with GameSpot also enjoying above-usual daily viewing. Back in the Nerd's catalog, September's Batman: Dark Tomorrow episode continues drawing an audience alongside the two haunted-house arrivals.

I’m a little surprised Jack-O hasn’t had more movies, he has a cool and striking visual design, and if Leprechaun can go to Space and the Hood… Twice lol Jack-O could at least get a trilogy
