A Karen, a cat-sitting week and Anna as queen of Brookhaven
The Roblox shorts channel had a day far beyond anything it usually sees, and none of its newest uploads looks big enough to explain it.
Why this story? The whole channel is running at 402,773 views a day, 17 times a normal day (24,293).
Which video sent Anna's World flying? Not, it seems, any of the newest. The channel took in around 400,000 views in a single day, when a usual day brings something closer to 24,000.
Anna's World lives mostly in Brookhaven, the Roblox role-play town, and its shorts are small comic scenes set there. One deals with a Karen ("again," the title sighs). Another plays on a face that does not match the profile picture. A third imagines Brookhaven with Anna wearing the crown. The face-and-profile short, posted on Sunday, leads the recent batch, but with views in the tens of thousands it cannot account for a day like this. The push came from somewhere else in the channel's catalog, and it is not clear which video started it.
The longer upload of the weekend is a different kind of story. "Can Me and Anna Survive Cat Sitting For 7 Days in Roblox?" is a week of pet care told in Roblox, and its tags point to a scary turn. The description is written in Anna's voice: she and "phantom" decided to cat sit. The about text is signed by Phantommaxx, who describes the role as the voice of Anastasia and the channel's owner, and it points to a cluster of sister channels.
Among Roblox channels of a similar size, LilyGumdrop Clips also ran well ahead of its usual pace, while most of the others kept to theirs. Anna's World added a few thousand subscribers over the week, and it kept posting through the jump: five new videos in two days, two of them with Anna's name in the title.
