Sixth grade, ninth grade, or never: INAFISH asks when makeup started

A one-question short turned its comment section into a roll call of school years, filling up nearly nine times faster than a usual first day.

Why this story? The video opened at a pace of 4,635,649 views a day, 66 times a normal first day on this channel (70,726).

"Which grade did you start doing makeup?" is the whole premise of the short, and the question was enough. A little more than a day after INAFISH posted it, it had passed five and a half million views. On this channel, a new short usually opens with tens of thousands.

The answers are the real show. The comments arrived at close to nine times the channel's usual first-day pace, and most of them are a grade. Sixth grade for light makeup. Seventh grade. Eighth. Then there are the other replies: viewers in ninth and eleventh grade who never started, one who plans to wait until around seventeen, and a fifth grader who lists a morning routine of water, moisturizer, sunscreen and lip oil and asks whether that counts as too much. The most liked reply admits to not knowing how to do makeup at all with only four years left before graduation. Another remembers being in seventh grade with no idea what lip tint was, just trying to get through math class. A few older commenters chime in with advice to wait.

It was not the only short from that day to travel. "what's your nickname?" and a list of life lessons, captioned as no insult to anyone, both went far past the channel's usual start. Other uploads from the same day, such as a rotating-rings puzzle, stayed much quieter.

This comes a day after a hair-colors short on the channel crossed five million. The channel's about text tells viewers to be themselves and let the world adjust. Under this question, the comment section ended up making much the same point.
