Why do all the continents point south?

On a usual day, Hank Green's channel draws somewhere around 650,000 views across everything he has posted. Right now it is running at nearly twice that, and most of the extra comes from one question: why do all the continents point south? Three days old, it is by far the busiest thing on the channel.

The next day brought two more. "Most of the Earth is Covered in Glass" had a brisk first day and is still moving well. "Worrying doesn't actually keep us safe" is a clip from his podcast, Humans with Hank, and its description sends viewers to the full conversation. It is smaller, as clips usually are, but it is holding steady.

The fourth upload, "How can we get kids interested in learning?", went up early in the week and has settled into a slow trickle. For someone who spent years on Crash Course and SciShow, it is a fitting question to ask.

Among the science channels of similar size, Hank sits seventh of nine by subscribers. CrunchLabs is the heavyweight here on an ordinary day, and Astrum is running above its usual pace too. Next to them, Hank is having a lively few days built on one map-shaped curiosity.
