Jon Rahm says no to LIV 2.0, and Golf Central talks it through

Matt Adams and Rex Hoggard took up the Spaniard's decision on a week of fifteen uploads, from Black Desert in Utah to Hoakalei in Hawaii.

Jon Rahm will not be back with LIV next season, and Golf Channel had Matt Adams and Rex Hoggard on Golf Central to talk about what that means. The segment is only hours old and already carries more momentum than anything else on the channel. For a player who left the PGA Tour for LIV in late 2023, a few years after winning the 2021 U.S. Open and the 2023 Masters, the news needed no clickbait in the title.

The rest of the week's fifteen uploads ran on two tracks. One was tournament golf: third-round highlights from the Bank of Utah Championship at Black Desert, the LPGA's Lotte Championship at Hoakalei Country Club, and the first round of the Baycurrent Classic in Yokohama. There was also a short tribute to Austin Smotherman, who won on tour ten years after turning professional.

The other track was borrowed clips, and one of them drew the biggest crowd of all the new uploads: a golfer with a driver swing so unusual that he says it is the only way he can hit the ball. Viewers mostly joked about where his tee shots must end up, and one said they would not park their cart on the right side of the tee box. A clip of very young golfers celebrating their putts got a smaller but steady audience.

Overall it was a slower stretch than the channel's usual pace, with no change in subscribers, after a Presidents Cup finish that drew a much bigger crowd. Among the golf and sports channels nearest its size, H.I.T Golf and RugbyPass are having the bigger weeks, while Golf Channel sits mid-pack.
