Quagsire, Clodsire and an axolotl that isn't: Gnoggin's Wooper lore
Lockstin's one new video follows Wooper from the Johto marshes to its Paldean poison cousin, and asks why Clodsire is so big.
Why this story? The channel's weekly summary: what went up this week, what is drawing views now, and where the channel stands among similar channels.
Why Wooper goes BOTH Ways!
Posted on Friday, "Why Wooper goes BOTH Ways!" was the only new Gnoggin video of the week, and it passed 100,000 views inside its first day and a half. That is the whole upload schedule, and it is doing nearly all the work.
The subject is a fan favorite with two branches. Lockstin starts with Quagsire and the original Wooper from Gold and Silver, then turns to the Paldean Wooper and Clodsire from Scarlet and Violet, the regional form that swapped Water for Poison. The chapters promise a stop at whether Wooper is really an axolotl, some "Salamander Lore" and an answer to why Clodsire is so big. It is the channel's usual trick of tangential learning: a Pokémon as the doorway, real biology on the other side.
The comments read like a field station. Viewers add their own notes on axolotls changing form outside the lab, on why the shiny Wooper looks like a pale axolotl, and on why stacking river rocks harms giant salamanders. Others split hairs over whether the "sire" in Quagsire means royalty, and a Mexican viewer thanks Lockstin for trying the Spanish pronunciation. A shrimp handed to Quagsire around the six-minute mark gets more than one mention.
Behind it, last month's review of Pokecology, the illustrated book on Pokémon ecology, is still finding readers, as is an hour-long look at beta Pokémon from a Diamond and Pearl behind-the-scenes DVD. Overall the channel ran slower than its usual pace, near the quiet end of its gaming commentary group, where YongYea had a week well above its own norm.

All very excellent points about Clodsire. But I raise you, "if evil, why friend-shaped?"

We love when foreigners attempt to pronounce our words; it is funny but we appreciate the effort nonetheless.@cabrondemente1See it on YouTube
