Saint Martin, in the Caribbean, is divided between a French north and a Dutch south, a split that goes back to the 1648 Treaty of Concordia. It makes the kind of map trivia the channel likes to open with a flag emoji and a surprised face.

It came in at close to 200,000 views on its first day and is still the busiest thing on the channel. Behind it, the Louisiana Purchase video, Napoleon's $15 million deal from 83 days ago, keeps adding views long after posting and is closing in on fourteen million. The channel as a whole ran below its usual daily pace, and subscribers held level. That was the mood across the explainer and history channels too, with History Matters, The People Profiles and Invicta all quieter than normal. GeoGlobeTales remains the largest of its group by subscribers, just past two million.
