A 'straitjacket for your butt' and the 1900s silhouette: Gabi Jones on shapewear

Her skit on how the ideal body shape keeps changing passed a million views in its first day, with a 1990s internet-safety sketch close behind.

Shapewear did it. Gabi Jones, the actress and history nerd who calls herself an aspiring 21st-century Lucille Ball, posted "1900s is my GIRL" on October 1, and it passed a million views within a day. The skit walks through the decades of the fashionable figure, each era wanting a different body and selling a different undergarment to get there. The line viewers keep repeating calls one of those garments a straitjacket for your butt, and a tiny phone pocket gets its own laughs.

The comments read like a long kitchen-table conversation. Many people take the moral as a reason not to reshape themselves for whatever is in style, others share the day they gave up shapewear for good, and a few speak up for it as a comfortable hug rather than a corset. Someone even remembers the girdle-free looks of the mid-70s fondly.

The rest of the week kept to the same time machine. "The era of ZERO internet safety" took the 1990s and its chat rooms for a spin, "We wear fedoras ironically" had fun with a hat that never quite left, and "The ORIGINAL vertical shorts" closed the week with a fast start. Eight days on, the penny loafer skit is still drawing a steady crowd.

All of it roughly doubled the channel's usual daily views, and 10,000 new subscribers came along. Among sketch channels her size, Gabi has the most subscribers, while Sophia & Noelle are having the biggest week by far and Colby Martel is running well ahead of his usual pace too.
