Apple's foldable won Jon Prosser over: 'I'm buying the iPhone Duo.'
The 19-day-old video, in which fpt.'s host says Apple changed his mind about folding phones, is close to 700,000 views.
Why this story? The channel's weekly summary: what went up this week, what is drawing views now, and where the channel stands among similar channels.
I'm buying the iPhone Duo.
Jon Prosser spent years as one of the loudest voices on Apple rumors, and on fpt. he has built a habit of showing the company's phones before Apple does: an iPhone 20 billed as "All Screen. All iPhone.", an iPhone Air 2 he told viewers to wait for. The video carrying his channel right now is a different kind of statement. In "I'm buying the iPhone Duo." he writes that Apple did it, that it changed his mind, and that he wants the foldable.
Nothing new went up in the past seven days, so that confession did most of the work. It is drawing roughly ten times the daily views of either of those older first looks, which keep ticking along at a few hundred views a day each, months after they were posted.
Without fresh uploads, the channel as a whole ran slower than usual, and subscribers held at about 603,000. That puts fpt. fourth by size among tech review channels close to it, but the quietest of the group for views added. Elsewhere in the neighborhood, SAMTIME and Michael MJD are both running well above their usual pace.
For a channel whose about line promises "tech videos that matter," the one that matters most this week is the one where the host admits he was wrong about folding phones.
