Spotify-sized questions give freeCodeCamp's system-design course its homework
Hayk Simonyan's course pairs an interview framework with architecture, scaling and real-time messaging examples.
Why this story? The channel's weekly summary: what went up this week, what is drawing views now, and where the channel stands among similar channels.
Design Software Systems Like a Senior Engineer – Complete Course
freeCodeCamp.org drew about 3.6 million views over seven days, a substantial week in its education neighborhood. The Infographics Show had a much larger weekly audience, while CrashCourse's daily viewing was running below its usual level. At freeCodeCamp, daily views were nearly double the usual pace, even as subscribers remained unchanged.
The biggest of three new uploads was "Design Software Systems Like a Senior Engineer – Complete Course," reaching roughly 186,000 views. Hayk Simonyan supplies a five-step framework for handling vague requirements under interview pressure, then works through systems modeled on services such as Spotify and WhatsApp. The chapters move beyond architecture diagrams into offline delivery, encryption, failure handling and feature rollouts. This upload acknowledges channel sponsorship support.
The comments supply a useful next assignment: one viewer asks how to practice these concepts and prepare for interviews after finishing the course. Another offers a programmer's circular joke about moving from monoliths to microservices and eventually back again. Choosing an architecture is rarely the end of the conversation.
The other new courses bring that concern with working systems down to the implementation level. Rahul's n8n course includes human approval steps, retries and monitoring alongside AI agents. Tapas Adhikary's TanStack Router course tackles navigation, authentication and loading states, including a section on when not to use router context.
Simonyan's course is also the channel's most active upload right now. Next comes the older mobile-app course from @codesistency, which builds an Instagram-style application and carries it through physical-device testing, legal pages and error monitoring: the less glamorous work between a promising demo and an app ready for release.
