France's Beretta 92, the PAMAS G1S, finally reaches America
The same week, Ian McCollum told the story of a Bavarian rifle that was rebuilt for a new cartridge and then retired within a few years anyway.

Bavarian Lightning: The New Model Werder M1869/76
A French service pistol turning up on the American market is exactly the kind of oddity Forgotten Weapons exists for. "PAMAS G1S: The French Beretta 92 (Now in the US!)" covers what Ian McCollum describes as the first commercial import of these pistols he knows of, two examples lent for filming. The PAMAS was built in France under license from Beretta. Barely a day old, it is already the channel's busiest video, and by some distance.
It arrived at the end of a seven-upload week that began in Bavaria. "Bavarian Lightning: The New Model Werder M1869/76" follows a rifle that Bavarian troops reportedly loved, then had to rework for the longer Prussian 11mm Mauser round, only to see it replaced by the M1871 Mauser a few years later. It has the week's biggest total so far, and a short companion clip on its twenty-rounds-a-minute rate of fire is still picking up views. There was also a monthly Q&A that ranged from bayonets in modern war to CMP M14s, and a detour to Amberley Museum in Sussex, offered as the kind of museum design McCollum prefers.
Older work is still moving too. A fifteen-day-old video on why Saudi Arabia gave gold-plated G3 rifles as diplomatic gifts sits second on the channel right now. Overall, views are running comfortably above the channel's usual daily level. Among military and weapons channels, The Military Show and Garand Thumb are also having busier-than-usual weeks, and Forgotten Weapons sits fifth of nine by subscribers.
