Whole Lamb In A Giant Pumpkin With Pineapple Marinade!

There is no usual day on hand to set against this one, so the food has to do the talking, and it talks loudly. Faraway Village, the Azerbaijani mountain-village kitchen in the Caucasus, put up two new videos, both built on the channel's favorite word: giant.

The first, on September 25, marinated a whole lamb in fresh pineapple and then baked it inside an enormous pumpkin. That is a late-September idea if ever there was one. It has passed three-quarters of a million views. Four days later came something closer to the comfort-food end of the menu: a giant mac and cheese made with rich sheep's cheese, which the description bills as homemade. It drew close to 300,000 views in its first day and is now gathering them more than twice as fast as the lamb.

Behind both sits an eleven-day-old beef leg, marinated in fruit and vegetable juice squeezed on a traditional stone press. It is still drawing a steady trickle as it closes in on half a million.

Among the cooking channels nearest Faraway Village in size, the busy stretch belongs to others. Chef Nick and Ballerina Farm are both running well above their usual daily pace. With 2.13 million subscribers, Faraway Village sits fourth of nine in the group, level with Chef Nick. Its own week ran on two big dishes and one old stone juicer.
