A 17-inch dip gives one West Coast tiny house a real bedroom

The 300-square-foot home has hand-made wooden windows, a round window and a Morso wood stove, all on a 26-foot trailer.

Why this story? The channel's weekly summary: what went up this week, what is drawing views now, and where the channel stands among similar channels.

One upload, one clever floor. The week's only new video from Exploring Alternatives tours a 300-square-foot tiny house on Canada's West Coast, and its trick is in the title: a lowered bedroom. According to the description, the builder removed some of the trailer's factory floor joists and set new ones lower, dropping the floor 17 inches so you can stand up beside a queen bed instead of crawling into a loft. Hand-made wooden windows, walls plastered by hand and a countertop cut from reclaimed oak banisters fill in the rest.

It had a solid first day and is still the channel's busiest video by a wide margin. Behind it sit two summer tours: Ivan's budget off-grid home in Bulgaria, where he has lived for three years, and a six-berth truck camper built by Rémi and Noémie of The Wildcrafters on a Ford F-550.

The whole channel is running noticeably above its usual daily pace. That fits the long view too. Among outdoors and homesteading channels, it sits third by subscribers, with Mav and LouisianaCrawfishCo the only two larger.
