Cyberpunk 2077 on a base M6 Mac mini, put to the ETA Prime test
A 16GB, 256GB Mac mini ran seven big games, some of them Windows titles through GameHub, and a second video the next day pushed GameCube and PS2 to 8K.
Why this story? The channel's weekly summary: what went up this week, what is drawing views now, and where the channel stands among similar channels.
The New M6 Mac Mini Is Actually a Gaming PC!
Among the tech channels close to ETA Prime's size, a few are clearly having a big week, Parker Burton and Switch and Click among them. ETA Prime sits closer to the middle, though its daily views are running well above its usual level, and the reason is a small silver box.
"The New M6 Mac Mini Is Actually a Gaming PC!" takes the base model, 16GB of memory and 256GB of storage, and asks whether it can carry heavy games. The chapters run from a Geekbench comparison with AMD's 9800X3D to a Steel Nomad test against Nvidia's RTX 4060, then through Cyberpunk 2077, Crimson Desert, Ghost of Tsushima and GTA V, some of them Windows games run through GameHub. It passed 200,000 views in under two days, the best start of the week's eight uploads. The comments have their own running joke: at one point an on-screen label reads "Title here," and viewers have adopted it as the name of a game. The longest thread grew out of a wish for an Apple handheld built on the M6.
The Mac video ends by promising more emulation, and the next day it arrived: "M6 Mac Mini Emulation Is Insane (8K GameCube & PS2)," with PSP, PS3, Original Xbox and PS Vita tests along for the ride. It started even faster than its sibling.
The rest of the week stayed in the handheld-and-mini-PC lane the channel is known for. There was official SteamOS on MSI's Claw and on the GPD Win Max 3, a 4-liter MSI workstation that can give 96GB of memory to its graphics, and the free Witcher 3 remaster on a Steam Machine, where the description says 4K began at a rough 14 frames per second before FSR and frame generation stepped in.

@Stupid-ahh-devSee it on YouTubeAt some point a mac mini and a portable monitor powered by the Mac mini is very very appealing.
@gabsrielSee it on YouTubeThey always derided my Atari 800 as "just a game machine." I learned everything I ever need to know about computer science on that highly sophisticated computer.
