Sports TV gives Sikandar Raza two rather different decisions to make: where to place World Cup-winning legends in a blind-ranking game, and whether Zimbabwe should bat first against Bangladesh. The cricket decision comes with a clear explanation. The ranking game earns a teasing verdict from former Zimbabwe batter Tino Mawoyo.

The live broadcast of the tri-series opener drew about 1.4 million views in nine hours, far beyond the channel's usual start for a long broadcast. Its separate full-match highlights also opened well above their usual pace, though the live coverage drew substantially more views.

At Zayed Cricket Stadium, Raza chooses to bat after winning the toss, pointing to the dry surface and Abu Dhabi's record as reasons to take first use of the pitch. Bangladesh's stand-in captain, Tawhid Hridoy, says he would have preferred to bat too.

There is room for something less tactical before play. Raza's blind-ranking challenge prompts Mawoyo to joke: "He's certainly not going to be a selector after that."

Once the match begins, Bangladesh quickly interrupts Zimbabwe's plans. Taskin Ahmed traps Brian Bennett lbw on the final ball of the opening over, with Zimbabwe's review unsuccessful. Ben Curran later supplies the first boundary, driving Taskin through the off side.
