DanKamYouKnow's "golden rule" puts PC panels on hold

A first-boot superstition becomes a two-role comedy sketch, with a practical reason behind the joke.

Why this story? The video opened at a pace of 135,025 views a day, 6.9 times a normal first day on this channel (19,616).

The button does nothing. DanKamYouKnow's newly assembled white gaming PC sits unresponsive after its builder ignores a friend's warning: test it before putting the case panels back on.

Dan plays both sides of the disagreement, switching between a backward-cap builder and a beanie-wearing friend in a cat T-shirt. The builder insists that putting the glass on early makes no difference. The friend has the quiet confidence of someone waiting to be proved right.

The Short passed 100,000 views in its first 14 hours, already well beyond the channel's usual full-day audience for the format. In the comments, the conspicuously large wrench gets its own discussion, while builders trade stories about closing up their machines before checking that everything works.

This is a staged sketch, not evidence that a glass panel can magically stop a computer from booting. Dan explains in his own comment that he remade a joke from roughly three years ago. The useful habit underneath it is simpler: leave the panels off for the first test so that, if something needs checking, you don't have to take the case apart again.

One viewer recalls repeatedly removing the panels after installing new lighting fans. Another says they closed the whole case first to assert dominance. Dan's joke leaves room for both kinds of builder.

  • Luckily I didn't have this problem on the first boot, even with the panels on. But when I put in new ARGB fans I had to take the panels off and on 3 separate times... It's safe to say I will be leaving the panels OFF next time until I know everything works. 😂
