Netanyahu's bloc loses majority in Israel's final election results
CTV News' brief report sets out the coalition challenge, drawing more than 100,000 views in nine hours.
Why this story? The video opened at a pace of 191,762 views a day, 22 times a normal first day on this channel (8,787).
Netanyahu loses majority in Israeli election
Coalition talks come next. Final Israeli election results confirm Benjamin Netanyahu and his allies have lost their parliamentary majority, CTV News reports, leaving no bloc with enough seats to govern alone.
The prime minister's bloc secured 53 seats, short of the 61 needed for a majority. The main opposition bloc also fell short, while Arab-led parties took the remaining seats. Losing a majority does not itself settle who will form the next government: that requires agreements between parties.
CTV's Short passed roughly 100,000 views in nine hours, an unusually fast start for the channel's short-form reporting. A separate upload carrying the same election headline also drew a large early audience. Alongside those reports, CTV's interview with former Canadian ambassador Derek Burney about the U.S. midterms and trade attracted an unusually strong opening audience for a regular video.
The Israel report ends with the immediate challenge rather than a prediction of the next prime minister: very different parties must find a way to assemble a governing coalition.
