It took minutes. Surveillance cameras captured the entire theft of James Lopez's classic Chevrolet Chevelle from his Sacramento garage in about two and a half minutes, according to CBS News Sacramento's description of its report.
The station's Short, titled "Video shows classic Chevelle stolen from Sacramento man's garage", reached roughly 27,000 views in its first 13 hours. That is already far beyond the few hundred views a Short ordinarily receives on this channel during its first day.
The report's fast start stands out against a quieter day for the station overall: daily channel views are running at about half their usual pace. Here, the subject is a specific loss, a 1970 Chevelle taken from its owner's garage, with surveillance footage documenting the theft.
